American Beautyberry

Celebrated for its regional ecological value, American Beautyberry (Callicarpa americana) is a deciduous Texas shrub native across the Cross Timbers, East Central Texas Plains, Edwards Plateau, Gulf Coast Prairies and Marshes, Texas Blackland Prairies, and Western Gulf Coastal Plain. It features distinctive green foliage. During Spring and Summer, the plant produces pink, white blooms. After blooming, it produces purple, sometimes white. Valuable as a wildlife food plant. Best suited to clay, dry, loam, moist, sand, and well drained, American Beautyberry adapts seamlessly to local soil conditions. It requires minimal supplemental water and tolerates dry spells with ease. It offers no deer resistance.
