FAMILY: Bignoniaceae (Trumpet Creeper Family)

A resilient evergreen native Texas vine that provides year-round foliage and structure to the landscape. Distinguished by dark foliage that is leaves compound, bifoliolate. dark green, with purplish venation and stems in winter, it offers an exceptional visual and tactile texture. During spring, the plant produces red, yellow flower clusters. Flowering is followed by brown, flat pod-like capsules, 4 to 8 inches long that add vibrant visual contrast and seasonal interest. Hummingbirds are attracted to flowers. An early nectar source for butterflies and hummingbirds. Deer browse it in winter.
