Chile Pequin

A resilient native native Texas herbaceous that provides year-round foliage and structure to the landscape. Native across the East Central Texas Plains, Edwards Plateau, Gulf Coast Prairies and Marshes, Southern Texas Plains, and Texas Blackland Prairies, Chile Pequin (Capsicum annuum) thrives in local conditions while supporting the surrounding ecosystem. During spring, summer, and fall, the plant produces white flower clusters. Flowering is followed by green, turns red when ripe that add vibrant visual contrast and seasonal interest. Small and very hot pepper. The species provides essential habitat and food, supporting Bees, Birds, and Nectar Insects. Thriving in caliche, clay, limestone, loam, moist, and sand, Chile Pequin demonstrates outstanding hardiness once established. It requires minimal supplemental water and adapts seamlessly to drought conditions. It features high deer resistance.
