Lace Cactus

A resilient evergreen native Texas cactus & succulent that provides year-round foliage and structure to the landscape. Native across the Central Great Plains, Chihuahuan Deserts, Cross Timbers, Edwards Plateau, Southern Texas Plains, Southwestern Tablelands, and Texas Blackland Prairies, Lace Cactus (Echinocereus reichenbachii) thrives in local conditions while supporting the surrounding ecosystem. Its dense, persistent foliage provides year-round thermal cover, privacy screening, and evergreen architectural structure. During spring, the plant produces pink flower clusters. Flowering gives way to ornamental berrys that ripen through summer and autumn. The species provides essential habitat and food, supporting Bees and Small Mammals. Thriving in caliche, clay, dry, granitic, gravelly, rocky, sand, and well drained, Lace Cactus demonstrates outstanding hardiness once established. It requires minimal supplemental water and adapts seamlessly to drought conditions. It features high deer resistance.
