Goldenball Leadtree

Celebrated for its regional ecological value, Goldenball Leadtree (Leucaena retusa) is a deciduous Texas tree native across the Chihuahuan Deserts, Edwards Plateau, and Southern Texas Plains. It features distinctive green foliage. During Spring, Summer, and Fall, the plant produces delightfully fragrant, orange, yellow blooms. Flowering is followed by blue fruit that adds seasonal contrast. It provides essential nectar, shelter, or forage for native wildlife, including Browsers, Deer, and Nectar Insects. Thriving in clay, dry, limestone, loam, rocky, sand, and well drained, Goldenball Leadtree demonstrates outstanding hardiness once established. It requires minimal supplemental water and tolerates dry spells with ease. It offers minimal deer resistance.
