Rock Rose

Thriving across the Edwards Plateau, Rock Rose (Pavonia lasiopetala) is an enduring deciduous shrub prized in water-wise native landscapes. During Spring, Summer, and Fall, the plant produces pink blooms. Flowering is followed by ornamental schizocarp that add seasonal interest. An essential species for Texas habitat restoration, offering vital forage and cover for local wildlife. Best suited to caliche, clay, dry, loam, sand, and well drained, Rock Rose adapts seamlessly to local soil conditions. It requires minimal supplemental water and tolerates dry spells with ease. It offers moderate deer resistance.
