Native across the East Central Texas Plains, Edwards Plateau, Gulf Coast Prairies and Marshes, Texas Blackland Prairies, and Western Gulf Coastal Plain, Dwarf Palmetto (Sabal minor) is an adaptable evergreen shrub valued for both ornamental appeal and ecosystem support. It features distinctive gray-green foliage. During Spring, the plant produces white blooms. Flowering is followed by blue fruit that adds seasonal contrast. An essential species for Texas habitat restoration, offering vital forage and cover for local wildlife. Thriving in caliche, clay, limestone, loam, moist, poor drainage, and sand, Dwarf Palmetto demonstrates outstanding hardiness once established. It requires minimal supplemental water and tolerates dry spells with ease. It offers moderate deer resistance.
