Texas Lantana

Lantana horrida

FAMILY: Verbenaceae (Verbena Family)

A resilient native native Texas shrub that provides year-round foliage and structure to the landscape. Native across the Central Great Plains, Chihuahuan Deserts, Cross Timbers, East Central Texas Plains, Edwards Plateau, Gulf Coast Prairies and Marshes, Southern Texas Plains, Texas Blackland Prairies, and Western Gulf Coastal Plain, Texas Lantana (Lantana horrida) thrives in local conditions while supporting the surrounding ecosystem. During spring, summer, and fall, the plant produces orange, yellow flower clusters. The species provides essential habitat and food, supporting Birds, Butterflies, and Nectar Insects. Thriving in caliche, clay, dry, gravelly, loam, sand, and well drained, Texas Lantana demonstrates outstanding hardiness once established. It requires minimal supplemental water and adapts seamlessly to drought conditions.
