Gregg Catclaw Acacia

A standout species for Texas gardens, Gregg Catclaw Acacia (Senegalia greggii) is a deciduous tree native across the Chihuahuan Deserts, Edwards Plateau, Gulf Coast Prairies and Marshes, and Southern Texas Plains. It features distinctive dull-green foliage. During Spring, Summer, and Fall, the plant produces white, yellow blooms. After blooming, it produces red-brown 6-13 cm. It plays a key ecological role as a larval host plant for Central Texas butterflies, including Reakirt's Blue and Mexican Yellow. Provides bird and rabbit shelter and food. Best suited to caliche, dry, rocky, sand, and well drained, Gregg Catclaw Acacia adapts seamlessly to local soil conditions. It requires minimal supplemental water and tolerates dry spells with ease.
