Arkansas Yucca

A vital larval host plant for Central Texas butterflies including Yucca Giant-Skipper, Arkansas Yucca (Yucca arkansana) is a evergreen Texas succulent native across the Cross Timbers, Edwards Plateau, Gulf Coast Prairies and Marshes, Southern Texas Plains, and Texas Blackland Prairies. Its persistent foliage provides year-round green structure and shelter for local garden wildlife. During Spring, Summer, and Fall, the plant produces green, white blooms. Flowering is followed by ornamental capsule that add seasonal interest. It plays a key ecological role as a larval host plant for Central Texas butterflies, including Yucca Giant-Skipper. Best suited to clay, dry, limestone, loam, sand, and well drained, Arkansas Yucca adapts seamlessly to local soil conditions. It requires minimal supplemental water and tolerates dry spells with ease.
